About Wee Scotty

About Wee Scotty

Lynne Gallagher’s vast design experience ranges from elegant wedding dresses and rock star costumes to sample making for major designers. Lynne’s design interests blossomed when her daughter inspired her to start her own line of unique children’s clothing. They currently co-design fashions featured at the Wee Scotty Children’s Boutique and Fashion School. Wee Scotty attire is made in our open studio location on Union Street where we merge creative fashion retail with our design and sewing school for children. Customers love the idea of limited edition original designs with a custom fit. Wee Scotty clientele includes the Rolling Stones, B52’s and Madonna.

The Wee Scotty Vision

The Wee Scotty name epitomizes a unique approach to retailing, manufacturing, interactive education, design school and promotion of Young Designers….all under one roof. In our San Francisco Store, while parents browse through our distinctive designs by founder Lynne Gallagher, we see children investigating our interactive learning center, where they will find state-of-the-art computerized sewing machines and learning activities.
In our efforts to preserve the designer and seamstress in San Francisco our facility will serve as a venue for Young Designers to showcase and promote their works. By doing so, we will encourage a creative outlet for children while reinforcing community support and belief in their talents, passions and dreams.
Wee Scotty provides all ages with a unique shopping environment, a fun educational experience, and the opportunity to contribute to the future of the children in our city.

Facility Layout

In a combination retail, classroom, and design environment both parent and child can sketch a custom creation on the Wee Scotty Design Board and see creations made onsite. They can visit the Wee Scotty production center and meet the folks who will create their design. Children know that real people – creative, skilled and hard working – create their clothing. Customers leave having a true appreciation for work and craftsmanship which has long-range benefits.
Additional educational opportunities fill the Wee Scotty Facility at several Learning Tables: Resource books, fabrics, buttons, zippers, trim, patterns, and various tools of the trade are available for hands-on exploration by kids and grown-ups alike. Knowledgeable and friendly staff members are always on hand to answer questions, offer advice, and provide excellent customer service.

Course Offerings

At the Wee Scotty Fashion School, children make their very own creations while learning the ABCs of sewing, design, and production. We have encouraged and nurtured a trade that has launched many successful designers and young artists. Lauren Smith moved on to New York City’s Pratt to further her design skills. Longtime student Sarah Bluestone now assists with classes.
Wee Scotty Birthday Parties are also offered. A party unlike any other - the hostess designs a handbag, a skirt or t-shirt that attendees create. They take home a party favor, new skills and memories that will last a lifetime.
Because Wee Scotty Fashion School encompasses a successful business environment we are able to contribute to the betterment of our world for children. One of the most meaningful elements is our dedication to the promotion of Young Designers and sewers.
Rock Designer Inspires Children
When designer Lynne Gallagher left New York in 1991, she left behind a design business that catered to the entertainment industry, but brought with her an impressive list of clients including Goo Goo Dolls, Mr. Big, Billy Dean, Robert Plant, Buddy Guy and Jim Kerr of Simple Minds. Since arriving in San Francisco, Gallagher has focused her designs on her true passion – a unique line of children’s clothing she’s dubbed “Wee Scotty.”
While honing her skills in costume design for numerous theatrical productions and for rock band tours that included the Rolling Stones, Black Crowes and KISS, Gallagher dreamed of creating a children’s clothing business that would be anything but ordinary. Her flair for the dramatic translated into bold fabrics, colors and textures that eventually would become the Wee Scotty trademark.
Gallagher runs a successful San Francisco-based apparel production and product development business. Her established client roster grew to include Joe Boxer, Esprit, DKNY Kids, Betsey Johnson, Gymboree/Zutopia and Levi’s, Vogue Patterns and syndicated sewing columnist Sandra Betzina/Power Sewing.

Wee Scotty Retail Line

Bold colors, texture and edgy designs have always characterized the line. Since 2001, retail has been exclusive to our retail boutique. The response has been great. Many Wee Scotty styles return season after season due to popular request. Merchandised with other complimentary lines, the Wee Scotty designs repeatedly outsell the competition.
Marketing efforts will focus on high-end, collection-based, children and pre-teen boutiques.
We are not a global company. Our limited on-site production offers distinctive style to all our customers. Our classroom designers also inspire the Wee Scotty retail line. This enables us to remain close to our customer base and respond to individual needs quickly.

Customer Profile

Our walk-in customers want an individual look, not set forth by current market trends. Loyal customers return each season for yet more unique styles and our quality sewn products.
Celebrity customers include Sharon Stone, B52s, Rolling Stones, Madonna, Journey, Chris & Tina of Talking Heads, Alex Liefson from Rush, Buddy Guy. These clients have requested personal trunk shows to view lines and several are repeat customers.
