WEE SCOTTY FEATURED AT SAN FRANCISCO FASHION WEEK AND UPCOMING ABC
EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION SAN FRANCISCO
After rocking the
runway at the 2005 San Francisco Fashion Week, local San Francisco
designer Lynne Gallagher and her Wee Scotty Collection will be featured
on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Following rave reviews and a roaring audience at S.F.F.W., it was no surprise
that the team from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition looked to Wee Scotty for
help on an upcoming special featuring a Fairfield, Ca. Family and their “fashion
maven” daughter. Constance Ramos (building/planning) joined designer
Lynne Gallagher as well as some experienced Wee Scotty sewing students at
her Union St. Boutique. The team had an exciting day designing and planning
for the room of the young aspiring designer. In an effort to inspire this
young lady, Gallagher graciously donated a new Wee Scotty wardrobe, Wee Scotty
sewing classes, and provided insightful input on designs for her room.
In 2000 Gallagher started Wee Scotty, a dual business featuring a boutique
of her own children’s fashions as well as a successful children’s
sewing school. Following a career designing costumes for rock bands such
as Kiss, the Rolling Stones and the Goo Goo Dolls, Gallagher’s interest
in children’s clothing was sparked following the birth of her daughter
Leah. At Wee Scotty, Gallagher has created an interactive retail and sewing
facility where she brings fashion and families together. Not only can students
come in to explore racks full of bold fabrics, colors and textures, but they’re
given the opportunity to take classes where they design and sew their own
creations. Gallagher’s big aim in combining the two mediums is to inspire
and cultivate the innate creativity she knows all children possess.
Earlier this year, Gallagher was invited to feature her collection at the
2nd annual San Francisco Fashion Week. Not only did Gallagher impress the
masses with her retro, rock n’ roll Spring 2006 Wee Scotty collection,
but she also gave her 2005 sewing students the opportunity to model their
own outfits they’d made in classes. According to Lauren David Peden
of Fashion Wire Daily, the Wee Scotty show featured the real “emerging
stars” of the night. As Gallagher is winding down from the big fashion
show in preparation for Wee Scotty’s appearance on Extreme Makeover:
Home Edition, she commented, “A nationwide appearance is a big step
and I hope that it will inspire children around the country to look to sewing
and design as a means of creative expression.”
Be sure to catch this inspiring episode of ABC’s Extreme Makeover:
Home Edition when it airs on Sunday, November 6th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm nationwide.
